Monique Johnson has lived in the Bronx for most of her life. When the pandemic hit, Monique hosted community prayer events and gave out resources to those most in need, specifically senior citizens who were most impacted by the pandemic. Monique has always had great respect for the seniors in her life, as they have helped her overcome the many obstacles she has faced. Because of this, she wants to give back to the senior citizen community.
Expanding services across the board to seniors, specifically increased access to health services, is one of Monique’s highest priorities. As someone who has seen firsthand how lack of quality healthcare can ruin lives, Monique wants to ensure that the most vulnerable Bronxites are well insured and protected. Monique is committed to expanding access to affordable healthcare for seniors, including access to hearing aids, eyeglasses, and dental care.
More than just healthcare, Monique is committed to increasing the services available to seniors throughout the Bronx. This includes expanding programs like the Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program, offering more educational opportunities such as courses for computer skills and English for speakers of other languages, and creating more avenues for senior housing assistance.
